Move over granite and make room for engineered stone.
Granite has long been the consumers choice for countertops. Known for
it's natural beauty, granite is resistant to heat, stains and scratches.
But there is a new player on the market called engineered stone. Some
say it is in fact superior to granite in some aspects.
Engineered stone is in fact more than 90% natural quartz; the hardest
non-precious stone there is. Granite is 40-60 percent quartz with
the remaining makeup being softer minerals and impurities.
Engineered stone is non-porous and therefore requires less
maintenance than granite. As it is non-porous, engineered stone
has an even great resistance to bacteria and stains. And best of all,
engineered stone comes with a 10 year warranty which is substantial
considering granite has none. |
